Driving in Costa Rica is different
from North America or Europe and some visitors are hesitant to rent
a vehicle, but with patience and a sense of humor, there is no
reason not to have your own wheels.
From the airport in Alajuela take the main Highway 1 east towards
downtown San José for aprox. 14 km. Just by the large Hospital
Mexico on your right, go round the major roundabout to take a left
(north) for Heredia on Highway 3.
Continue straight along about 6 km until you reach Heredia downtown.
You will pass the UNA Universidad Nacional on the right, and two
blocks after the road ends at a T junction. Turn right and continue
6 km. up the hill.
After you pass the Castillo Country Club on the right, continue
straight 3 more kilometers to reach the hotel..
